Bachelor’s Thesis/Design Oral Defense for Graduates 2013
On May 4 and 5, all the senior students of SCBC were sitting in the last and most important test in their college life: thesis/design oral defense. In the process, they had to present the thesis/design with regards to the purpose, methods and significance of research, and then answer the questions by the judges of the oral defense committee, who then commented on the defenders’ work in terms of their language, professional knowledge, and performance in the defense, and gave them suggestions for improvement.
SCBC Plans to Enroll 2400 New Students in Fall 2013
Recent news from the Admission Office indicates that this year SCBC plans to enroll 2400 new students from 16 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, including Guangdong, Jiangsu, and Sichuan. Notably, SCBC will set up two International Classes for business majors. Together with the three newly-approved programs of Russian, Translation, and Financial Management, there are 22 majors open to enrollment in 2013, of which 10 are foreign languages, namely, English, Business English, Translation, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Russian, German, French and Spanish. Now SCBC holds more foreign language majors than any other independent college does in Guangdong Province.
English-Only Talk: The Culture of Youth and Youth Relationships
Sponsored by the Department of College English, an English-only talk entitled “The Culture of Youth and Youth Relationships” was given by Martin, a foreign teacher of SCBC, at Room C501 on May 8. Martin introduced the differences between lifestyles of college students in Europe and in China, and shared his opinions on interpersonal relationships in college life.
Mr. Liang Xiaoqi Visits Consulate General of the Philippines in Guangzhou
Recently, Mr. Liang Xiaoqi, director of International Cooperation and Exchange Division, headed a delegation to visit the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Guangzhou, and meet with Consul General Raly L. Tejada. At the meeting, Liang introduced South China Business College to Mr. Tejada, particularly the international exchange programs. According to Mr. Liang, SCBC will send students to attend the 4th Leadership Forum for University Students to be held in Manila, and discuss cooperation and exchange projects with institutions of higher learning in the Philippines.
The Consul General welcomed the delegation. He hoped that in the future more SCBC students could go to study in the Philippines, and that SCBC would receive Philippine students who want to learn Chinese language and culture. Moreover, Mr. Tejada said he would arrange a visit to meet SCBC teachers and students at appropriate time.
